Ryder System Safety Manager in Bridgeport, Michigan
As a Safety Manager with Ryder, you will manage distribution center safety programs to ensure a safe and accident-free work environment. You will also plan and/or deliver programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices. You will promote safety by working with all departments to analyze current situations and recommend safety improvements.
Builds a culture that integrates safety with daily operations; reduces frequency and severity of injuries, reduces costs and develops a more productive, effective and safe workforce that is in compliance with all applicable standards and regulations.
Analyzes accident data to identify trends and accident types that can be prevented.
Serves as resource to distribution center management during the development and implementation of standard safety programs.
Regularly reviews status of safety process and programs.
Tracks, reports, benchmarks and trends safety data; conducts root cause and other analysis to reduce incidents; establishes metrics and reports results to management weekly and monthly. Provides appropriate feedback and results to operations and DC personnel.
Identifies “Safety Best Practices” and communicates for implementation at the location.
Reviews and update safety policies, procedures and training to meet all regulatory updates in a timely manner.

Associates degree or 4 years of related experience is required
Advanced Level Skills in MS Excel such as keyboard short cuts, creating macros, merge, merge queries, templates, table techniques, and working with images and text
Minimum 1 (one) year of supervisory experience required
Experience with ground transportation operations including DOT, OSHA and all related safety regulations
Bachelor's degree preferred
Three to five years experience in logistics, transportation, warehouse or industry related field is preferred
Knowledge/Experience in transportation environment (i.e., Shipping, receiving and inventory management, distribution or dispatch preferred)
Knowledge of warehouse and or software applications, routing and dispatch software systems preferred
Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills preferred
Attainment of productivity goals resolving customer issues
Quality Assurance Safety Management and reporting New Employee training
Employee relations solutions Individual will be working in a dynamic environment focusing on delivery of continuous measurable improvement to the customer
