Ryder System Dispatcher - Mid Shift in Avenel, New Jersey

Position Description

The Dispatcher is typically dedicated to an assigned area of responsibility within an account or location. The incumbent ensures that productivity and operational goals are met in order to deliver customer satisfaction. Individual will be working in a dynamic environment that focuses on delivering continuous measurable improvement to the customer.

Additional responsibilities / skills needed include but not limited to proficiency using a computer and tasks within Excel, Outlook, TMS / Dispatch, and BOL creation. You must be experienced in communicating directly with clients, managing dispatch of drivers and knowledge of DOT requirements including Logs, Hours of Service, and General DOT.

Preferred licenses and experience include a valid CDL, Route Design, and prior supervisory experience.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience with DOT, OSHA, and all related safety regulations preferred

  • 1-3 Years of experience in a transportation, warehouse or distribution environment preferred

  • 6-12 months supervisory experience preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Preferred

  • Knowledge/Experience in transportation environment, (i.e.: Shipping, receiving and inventory management, distribution or dispatch preferred.)

  • Knowledge of warehouse and or software applications, routing and dispatch software systems preferred

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for a Dispatcher include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate out of service equipment with Safety/Equipment Manager and Maintenance Review DVCR's and process accordingly

  • Complete collision and/or injury reports

  • Address issues that do not follow procedure

  • Dispatch drivers to routes

  • Accurately record driver arrival and departure times Update driver/route magnet board in a timely manner

  • Distribute tractor keys per procedure

  • Verify customer delivery windows are being met Timely usage of 5-Alarm process

  • Direct drivers to appropriate support resources

  • Ensure all new drivers are trained per customer safety policies

  • Ensure drivers have appropriate route specific information

  • Oversee hot part drivers and allocate resources as required

  • Complete and approve payroll exceptions
